About Us

Founded by Sean and Kristina Malone, Santa’s Letters began in 2013 when Sean, then a U.S. Postal Service employee, started replying to children's letters to Santa. As he recognized the needs of local families, the Malones established Santa’s Letters as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to support their community. One day, the couple discovered a large red mailbox and placed it in front of their home as an official Santa letter drop-off.

What started as a simple act of kindness has grown into a heartfelt mission to serve and uplift the community.
What We Do:
Santa’s Letters is best known for helping Santa respond to every letter in the red mailbox—because every child deserves to feel seen and heard. Each Christmas, we adopt local families and fulfill their wish lists with gifts and essentials. We accept applications from Sussex County residents and partner with local schools to reach those most in need. Our mission continues year-round—offering essentials like food, clothing, and household supplies. From our Spring Egg Hunt to “Christmas in July” and back-to-school drives, we bring joy and support to families throughout the year.
Help us as we continue to make a lasting impact—every day of the year.

SANTA'S LETTERS INC. WELCOMES
NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
We are proud to announce the appointment of communication professor Rachel Stohr as its new Executive Director.
With over a decade of experience as a communication scholar, educator, and grassroots organizing advocate, Stohr brings a wealth of expertise to the role. Her background in organizational and relational communication and her lifelong commitment to service shape a leadership style rooted in care, collaboration, and community—making her a strong fit to lead the organization into its next chapter.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Rachel to the Santa’s Letters family, her vision and experience will build on our strong foundation and help guide Santa’s Letters into an exciting new era.” - Sean Malone, Founder of Santa’s Letters.
As Executive Director, Stohr will focus on growing the organization through strategic partnerships, expanded outreach, and new sponsorship opportunities. One of her priorities is educating the public about often-overlooked needs in the area— needs hidden behind the region’s outward appearance of affluence. By raising awareness, Stohr hopes to foster a broader understanding of the unseen hardships affecting numerous local residents.
She envisions launching quarterly giving campaigns to support ongoing programs and enhance the organization’s visibility throughout Sussex County— particularly north of Bethany Beach.
Lisa Condon, known as the Head Elf, coordinated the search that led to Stohr’s hire. Although Condon moved out of state last year, she remains committed and involved with Santa’s Letters and its mission. She will work closely with Stohr as the organization enters this exciting new phase.

“I’m honored to join an organization deeply rooted in integrity, generosity and connection, Lisa’s dedication has shaped Santa’s Letters into what it is today, and I’m grateful for her support as I step into this role. I’m excited to work alongside Sean and Kristina Malone, our amazing volunteers, and our extremely generous sponsors. Together, we will strengthen the organization’s presence and deepen its day-to-day engagement with the community.” - Rachel Stohr.
